Carey Price on the move?
Habs gave up a 3rd, so it wasn't a dump by the Blues........
Why else would Montreal do this? 4.35 Million cap hit next year |
Great for Montreal. Will ease the load on Price who shouldn't be playing more than 45 games a season. |

Price to Toronto rumors coming up. Nylander/ Andersen going the other way. |
Ek needs to talk to a source to believe this is a Salary Dump?
Bigger question is why did Montreal give the Blues a 3rd for essentially doing them a favour? |

A 3rd is nothing for a capable goalie who seems to have rediscovered his game in my opinion. The question I would ask is why is Montreal tying up so much money in goalies. I guess Allen does only have a year left though. |

15M for goalies next year.. seems like a lot. At least Allen only has a year left and then Primeau comes in |

He will flip Allen me thinks. Hopefully not to the Leafs. May be to a team in Alberta. |

They traded away one of the best backup/1B goalies in the league for basically nothing so they could save four million. What else would you call it?

Was the better goalie this year between him & Binnington and overtook him in the playoffs. Seems to have settled nicely into that back up role over the last couple seasons and has shown he's able to step up if the starter is struggling. Look at them numbers
Legit back up - check
And on top of that Bergy cucking the queefs of Piets is a huge W
Still lots of work to do

Let's start the Price to Calgary rumors |
I dont think Steen goes anywhere i believe he will retire before being traded.
We have enough money to sign Pietrangelo now without moving anyone else |

Exactly. Id guess Blues would give up a 2nd right now to get him back if they had the cap space for Pietrangelo. |

Ehh i don't know. I think they like Husso and want to give him a shot. This is purely cap related. Jake was great teammate and backup. Be happy he won a cup and now gets to play for his home team growing up. Army again able to extract extra value in trades like this was very nice. |

Habs needs to rest Price during the season. Habs also need to expose a goalie with enough NHL experience for the expansion draft. I wouldn't be surprised if the extended Allen for that purpose as they don't have one available now that can be exposed. Price cannot be exposed as he has non-movement clause.
MTL has plenty of picks. They could easily afford a 3rd round for Allen.
That is indeed a lot of cash spent on the goalie position. |
The full trade is Jake Allen and a 7th round pick in 2022 to Montreal while the Blues receive a 3rd and a 7th round pick in the upcoming draft. |

Dunn being a RFA will be getting a raise. Petro will get a raise, rest of team is relatively unchanged.
Tarasenko will be on LTIR so we have his cap hit to start season so if needed. |
